The "English" is one of the most classic styles of mustaches that one could choose to grow. Typically narrow and beginning near the upper lip, the English mustache consists of long whiskers that are pulled to the side and curled slightly. With ends that can either be pointed upward or straight out, this mustache exudes class and whimsy at all at once. Origin and Examples in History
As one might expect by the name, the English mustache has origins in Britain. While it’s unclear as to when the style first emerged, it found popularity during the early 1900s among the British Empire’s military men. The style may not be as popular today as it was a century ago, but it seems to be making a comeback amongst those who embrace vintage attire.

The Look
Growing an English mustache doesn’t have to be difficult. Start by making an effort to grow a natural mustache, combing it out towards the sides and trimming it so that it remains relatively narrow. Using a bit of wax, form the tips of the mustache to either jut straight out or curl up slightly, so that they stand out dramatically from the body of the mustache itself.

Incorporating it Into an Ensemble
Decades ago, the English style mustache was fairly commonplace (especially in Britain), and could be worn with a variety of different types of attire. These days, however, it has become somewhat of a boutique mustache style, and looks best when worn with vintage clothing. Go to your nearest vintage thrift store and pick up a few vests, for example, which you can pair with trousers and perhaps even a cabbie cap.
