When it comes to fashion, it’s no secret that dictators throughout history have not all had excellent track records. After all, a lot of dictators throughout history were taking a too forceful approach to leading their nations to actually put any time and effort into the way they dressed. While a lot of people don’t think that fashion is an important part of politics, this truly could not be further from the truth. The fact is, one has to look their absolute best if they have intentions to lead a nation, and many simply don’t put the right amount of work into doing so. This is especially true of Robert Mugabe, the Marxist President of Zimbabwe and a political leader that has caused a great deal of division amongst many individuals over the years. It’s important for just about anyone to take a look at Mugabe’s approach to style and fashion in order to learn more about how they currently dress, and doing so doesn’t have to be difficult or time-consuming. Fashion Designer, Really?
Towards the end of 2011 Robert Mugabe showed up in this costume-like suit pictured above. Shortly after, it was announced that he has now started his own clothing line featuring his signature as the logo. It was the 87 year old’s goal to attract young voters with this PR stunt, but the loud, flashy colors and unfashionable patterns which make up his first collection, is nothing short of laughable.

Loud, Clashing Ensembles
Another good reasons why Robert Mugabe has made this list is the fact that he tends to wear extremely loud and clashing ensembles. Bright reds are often part of his wardrobes, which do nothing to put him in a good light. He also tends to wear ensemble pieces that feature loud patches of various colors, which not only make his look seem thrown together, but further add to the clashing. While there’s nothing wrong with trying to incorporate color into a wardrobe, you’ve got to do whatever possible to ensure that you do so with class, and most will agree that Mugabe does not.

The Baseball Cap
Let’s face it; everyone likes to throw on a baseball cap from time to time. This is especially true of American culture, as the “ball cap” may be one of the most ubiquitous styles of hat on the market. Still, world leaders should stay away from this look, as it tends to dumb them down. Nevertheless, Mugabe is no stranger to the baseball cap, having worn it on plenty of occasions while being part of the public eye. This is not to say that he’s taking the right route, however, as it does nothing to push his appearance in the right direction. Wearing a baseball cap may be alright behind closed doors, but it’s almost never a good look in public.
